Capture history: an American merchant ship (schooner, 40 tons, 4 men) bound from Roanoke, North Carolina to Boston, Massachusetts, laden with tobacco; taken on 14 March 1778 off Montoch [Montauk] Point, Long Island, New York by HMS Ariel (John Becher commanding), and brought into New York.
