Captured ship: Chaumont (master Guy Belliott).
Capture history: a French merchant ship (snow, 80-90 tons, 6 guns, 12 men) bound from New Bern, North Carolina to Nantes, laden with pitch, tar, furniture, tobacco and indigo; taken on 8 July 1779 about 24 leagues from Belle Isle by the privateer Blossom (William Doyle commanding), and brought into Liverpool.
Intended voyage: from the United States to France.
