Captured ship: Le Chat Noir of Redon (master Francois Trochu).
History: a French merchant ship (schooner, 120 tons, 7 guns, 13 or 14 men), bound from Bordeaux to Senegal or the East Indies, laden with wine, brandy, beef, flour and other provisions; taken on 20 April 1782 about 10 leagues from Ushant by HMS Prudente (Lord Charles Fitzgerald commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.
Court papers: 1-14; Ship's papers: 15-26. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
