Captured ship: Black Prince of Dunkirk (commander William Ripner).
Capture history: an American privateer under French colours (70 tons, 12 guns, 66 men), bound from Dunkirk on a cruise; taken on 25 March 1781 about 9 leagues SSW of Ushant, Brittany by HMS Lively (William Carlyon commanding), and HMS Cruiser (Arthur Haynes commanding), and brought into Falmouth.
Intended voyage: a cruise from France.
