Captured ship: Betsey (master John Hurst).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (45 tons, 12 men) bound from St Croix, Danish West Indies, to Alexandria, Virginia, laden with rum, salt, sugar, limes; taken on 14 June 1780 off the Capes of Virginia in latitude 37°2'N, longitude 73°30'W by the loyalist privateers Apollo (John Freeman commanding), [and Lady Dunmore, (Samuel Wentworth commanding)] and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the Caribbean Islands to the United States.
