Captured ship: Betsey (master Thomas Kelly).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (schooner, 40 tons, 2 guns) bound from New Bern and Edenton, North Carolina to St Eustatius or St Croix, or St Thomas, Danish West Indies, laden with tobacco, naval stores, lumber; taken on 17 June 1779 in latitude 33°30'N, longitude 71°W by the loyalist privateer Bayard (Benedick Bryan commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the United States to the Caribbean Islands.
