British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.
Captured ship: Betsey (master William Pittman).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (brigantine, 100 tons, 8 men) bound from Boston, Massachusetts to Chincoteague Inlet, Virginia, laden with oil, salt; taken on 12 April 1778 in latitude 38 or 39°N off the Capes of Delaware Bay by HMS Andromeda (Henry Bryne commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: within the United States.
