Captured ship: Betsey (master Joseph Oliver).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (sloop, 50 tons, 12 men including 9 passengers) bound from Musk Melon Creek, Delaware to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, laden with Indian corn, oats, staves; taken on 18 March 1780 in latitude 39°N, longitude 74°50'W at Mother Kill [Murderkill] Creek, Delaware Bay by the loyalist privateer Lewis Town's Revenge (William Milby commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: within the United States.
