Captured ship: Betsey (master Michael Williamson).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (55 tons) bound from Cap François, Saint Domingue to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, laden with coffee, molasses, salt; taken on 4 January 1777 [sic] in the Delaware River by HMS Roebuck (Andrew Snape Hamond commanding), and HMS Pearl (Thomas Wilkinson commanding, since deceased) and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the Caribbean Islands to the United States.
