British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.
Captured ship: Betsey (master Alexander Ray).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (10 tons) bound on a voyage between the American colonies, laden with steel, fish, carriage boxes and an enslaved woman called Dinah; taken on 23 May 1780 at the mouth of New Haven Harbor, Connecticut by the loyalist privateer whaleboat Tryon (Nicholas Pratt commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: within the United States.
Court papers numbered CP 1-3:-
