High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: De Batavier (master Siefke Siefkes de Graaf).
History: a Dutch merchant ship, bound from St Eustatius to Rotterdam, laden with sugar, tobacco, rum, coffee and hides; taken on 4 February 1781 at St Eustatius by HMS Monarch (Francis Reynolds commanding), HMS Panther ([John] Harvey commanding), HMS Sibyl (Lord Charles Fitzgerald commanding), and brought into Greenock.
Court papers: 1-113; Ship's papers: 114-361. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
