High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: Amitié (master François Taffe).
Capture history: a French merchant ship with a letter of marque (polacca, 100 tons, 9 men) bound from Marseilles to Malta, laden with wheat and other sundries; taken on 17 January 1780 about 16 leagues S of Cape Carbonara, Sardinia in latitude 38°20'N by the privateer Lively (Hugh Shutter commanding), and brought into Leghorn [Livorno].
Intended voyage: from France to Spain.
Court papers numbered CP 1-5:-
Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-19:- including muster roll, official ship's papers, a list of recruits (French and foreign) going to serve the Order of Malta [St John of Jerusalem], and bills of lading.
