Captured ship: Amelia (master Francis Watlington).
Capture history: an American merchant ship with Danish papers (brigantine, 80 tons, 14 men and 1 boy [3 black]) bound from St Croix, Danish West Indies to Baltimore, Maryland or Virginia, laden with rum and salt; taken on 17 April 1782 near Cape Hatteras by HMS Amphion (John Bazeley commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the Caribbean Islands to the United States.
