Captured ship: Amazon (commander Noah Stoddard).
Capture history: an American privateer (50-60 tons, 8 guns, 37 men) bound on a cruise; taken on 22 April 1780, about 10 leagues from Sandy Hook, New Jersey by HMS Delaware (Christopher Mason commanding), HMS Iris (James Hawker commanding), and HMS Otter (Richard Royal commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: a cruise from the United States.
