High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: Amazone (commander Cornelius Loeff).
Capture history: a Dutch privateer (16 guns, 59 or 60 men) bound from Middelburg on a cruise, taken on 30 June 1782 off the Dogger Bank, about 47 leagues SW from the Texel by HMS Winchelsea (Sir John Borlace Warren commanding), and brought into Great Yarmouth.
Intended voyage: a cruise from the Netherlands.
Court papers numbered CP 1-4:-
- [CP 1]: standing interrogatories;
- [CP 2]: attestation as to papers (numbered 1-16[red numbers]), brought in by the prize master Lieutenant Bowles Mitchell, 3 July 1782;
- [CP 3]: three depositions of Cornelius Loeff, Pieter Lagaaij, Alexander Gerritson and commissioners affidavit, 6 July 1782;
- [CP 4]: translation of ship's paper no 15 red number / no 1 black number.
Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-17 [red numbers, plus 1]: letter of marque, printed instructions etc; SP 13 muster roll.
[Papers previously wrongly identified as Court papers: 1-23; Ship's papers: 24-39 (large pencil numbers): sorted and renumbered in 2024].
