Captured ship: Aimable Genevieve of Fécamp (master Jean Baptiste Vincent Jourel).
Capture history: a French merchant ship (100 tons, 7 men) bound from Cadiz to Dunkirk, laden with salt; taken on 9 August 1778 about 6 leagues from Étaples in France by HMS Speedwell sloop (Thomas Bornford Mainwaring commanding), and brought into the Downs.
Intended voyage: from Spain to France.
