Description

High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Aiglon (master Honoré Jaubert).

Capture history: a French merchant ship (goelette, 72 tons, 2 guns, 13 men) bound from Marseilles to Saint Domingue laden with wines, almonds etc; taken on 26 October 1781 about 14 leagues NNE of Majorca by the Irish privateer Fame of Dublin (Thomas Moore commanding), and brought into Leghorn [Livorno].

Intended voyage: from France to the Caribbean Islands.

Court papers numbered CP 1-3:-

  • [CP 1]: attestation of papers bought into Livorno, with translation, 5 November 1781;
  • [CP 2]: deposition of Pierre Rattiere, in Livorno, with translation, 5 November 1781;
  • [CP 3]: translations of ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-7:-

  • SP 1: muster roll;
  • SP 2-SP 6: official ship's papers.

[Papers previously wrongly identified as Court papers: 1-7; Ship's papers: 8-14 (large pencil numbers): sorted and renumbered in 2024].
