British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.
Captured ship: Adventure (master Joseph L Tripp).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (brigantine, 95 tons, 16 guns, 23 men) bound from Dartmouth, Massachusetts to [unknown], laden with tobacco; taken on 2 May 1779 in latitude 37°5'N, longitude 70°W by the loyalist privateer Enterprize (Thomas Jarrord or Thomas Jolly commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the United States to [unknown].
Court papers numbered CP 1-2:-
- [CP 1]: affidavit of papers brought in by the prize master William Greig, 12 May 1779;
- [CP 2]: libel in Jolly v The brig Adventure and her cargo, 12 May 1779.
Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-3 (Maryland and Massachusetts papers):-
- SP 1-SP 3: certificates of ownership by Nathaniel Green, and of cargo.
[Papers previously wrongly identified as Court papers: 1-2; Ship's papers: 3-5 (large pencil numbers): sorted and renumbered in 2024].
