Captured ship: Adrian of Philadelphia (master George Kelley).
Capture history: an American [or French] merchant ship (brigantine, 50 tons, 6 men) bound from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the West Indies or Lorient, France, laden with flour, tobacco, staves; taken on 4 July 1776 at Cape Henlopen, Delaware by HMS Orpheus (Charles Hudson commanding) and HMS Kingfisher (Alexander Graeme commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the United States to the Caribbean Islands.
