Description

High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Active (master John Burgess).

Capture history: an English merchant ship (sloop) bound from St Eustatius to St Kitts, laden with tobacco; taken 3 February 1781, at the surrender of St Eustatius to Admiral Rodney in the Road of St Eustatius, by HMS Sandwich (Walter Young commanding), one of the fleet under the command of Sir George Bridges Rodney.

Intended voyage: within the Caribbean Islands.

Court papers numbered CP 1:-

  • [CP 1]: duplicate of monition of 3 December 1781, brought into court 10 December 1782.
