J168.

Captured ship: Jonge Nelke (master Johan Van der Borde).

History: a Danish fishing vessel, laden with pickled cod and pickled herrings; taken on 19 September 1796 off the Dutch coast by the privateer Daphne (John Abbott commanding), in sight of four naval ships, and brought into Orford Ness.

Documents: court papers (depositions, translations, attestation as to perishable cargo, claim, account of sales, appraisement), ship's papers.
