Captured ship: Johanna Elizabeth otherwise Johannes en Elizabeth of Emden (master Johannes Greene).
History: a Prussian ship, bound from London to Lisbon, laden with sugar and pepper; taken on 21 September 1796 off the North Foreland by the privateer Friendly (John Taylor commanding), and brought into Faversham.
Documents: court papers (depositions) and ship's papers; claim.
