Folio(s) 22-23. Appointment form for Edward Perry as schoolmaster.The form shows Perry, now of Kidderminster, late of Quatt, Bridgenorth [Shropshire] was previously a schoolmaster. He has also [worked] for the Overseer of Quatt Parish in 1848. He has taught for the last 12 years, and was connected with the [Central National School], Westminster [London].
The salary to be decided after the next visit of Her Majesty's Inspector of Schools.
The guardians have received testimonials from the Reverends John Wylde, John Carr and H A Woodgate.
The post became vacant due to the inefficiency of the present schoolmaster, [Henry Charles Ellins].
The form is signed by Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union and Edward Perry.
Annotated: the Board cannot sanction the appointment until a salary is fixed. The Board propose to continue the salary at £30 a year but they ask for any observations the guardians may have on the matter. The salary can be regulated from time to time but the power to do this resides with the Poor Law Board and not with the inspector of schools.
