Description

Folio Range: [seq 207-218; folios 88-92].

Case Reference: Joan Hatcher, 6 October 1645.

Description: [seq 209; folio 88] Copy of affidavit [17 December 1645?] of Joan Hatcher, widow, of Spexhall, Suffolk, that she has received no money from John Payne of Stoke Nayland in Essex.

[seq 211; folio 89] Petition of Joan Hatcher that she be able to recover the money owed to her, now about £100, by the delinquents John Payne and Walter Norton esq (now baronet, deceased), whose lands have been sequestrated.

[seq 213; folio 90] Affidavit of Drue Webster of London, certifying exact the attached copy of the judgement of the Court of Common Pleas.

[seq 215; folio 91] Order, 6 October 1645, referring the case to John Bradshaw. Certificate, 17 December 1645, that Joan Hatcher and Drue Webster were sworn by Mr R Vaughan. Certificate by John Bradshaw that by a bond dated 26 September 1633, Joan Hatcher is owed £100 by John Payne and Walter Norton; mention as attached of the judgement and of her oath. She has been summoned to offer precisions as to the arrears on this bond; if the Committee is satisfied, she will be reimbursed, or the benefit of the sequestered lands will be given to her as indemnity.

[seq 217; folio 92] Affidavit, 3 June 1646, of Joan Hatcher, examined by John Bradshawe: she has received no repayment, principal or arrears, for the £52 owed to her by virtue of a bond with John Payne esq, deceased, of Stoke [by] Nayland, Essex, and Walter Norton, deceased, of Cheston, Suffolk, for nine years.
