Description (What the record is about)
-
The bound volumes in this series contain printed Finance Bills and amendments, together with weeded documentation including drafting notes, significant correspondence relating to the preparation of the legislation, opinions and memoranda.
The contents of the series reflect the translation of policy into legislation and give valuable historical light into the process at the highest level and of the reasoning behind budgetary decisions at the time. Quite regularly it is found that individual sponsoring departments have not retained or transferred their records on legislation they have sponsored and need to consult original Office of the Parliamentary Counsel (OPC) records when considering further legislation.
Many pieces contain indexes.
