Description (What the record is about)
- Copy of a paper from the Control Commission on a suggested Rhine Valley Authority, dated 1 September 1945. The paper is circulated with reference to the Economic and Industrial Planning Staff commitment to study the future of the Ruhr/Rhineland/Westphalia region. States that while the Rhine Valley Authority as outlined in the paper might work if the region was completely separated from Germany, the scheme is open to the objection that this would not work in practice if there were to be opposition from the German central authorities. Further includes Foreign Office Minutes on this matter, dated 8 September 1945.
