Description
Letter from Mr Clifford Glossop, MP for Howdenshire, to Mr Hector McNeill regarding the concerns of several Dutch constituents who desire information regarding the return of property looted by the Germans from their relatives in Holland, dated 10 August 1945. The letter refers to the loss of horses, cattle and machinery. No names are provided. Note by Mr Ian Mackenzie at the Foreign Office stating that the C-in-C [Commander in Chief] in the British Zone has been asked to invite to his zone representatives of the governments of all liberated countries to discuss interim restitution measures, dated 22 August 1945. Given the state of proceedings on this matter, Mackenzie argues that it would be inadvisable to divulge to Mr Glossop's constituents the exact proposed measures, hence the vagueness of the draft reply. Includes a draft reply to Mr Hollop, dated 23 August 1945.
