The Housing, Environment and Property Services Division was created in 1982 following the HM Treasury reorganisation of 1981. It was responsible for the following functions and topics: housing; new towns; community environmental services; Property Services Agency; Ordnance Survey; Department of the Environment manpower; and, territorial departments responsible for housing.
