The Industrial and Employment Division was created in 1981 after the HM Treasury reorganisation.
In 1983, the organisation title changed to Industry, Agriculture and Employment Group, Industrial Policy, Finance and Employment Division. By 1990 the Group and Division came under the Public Expenditure Sector.
