According to Memorandum of Association of 12th December 1900, E.Clifford and Co. Ltd., went into voluntary liquidation and were established on that date as "Cliffords Ltd". By special resolutions passed at Extraordinary General meetings held on 8th and 27th August 1912, name of firm was changed to "Hay's Wharf Cartage Co.Ltd."
By agreement dated 9th August 1933, all ordinary shares of Hay's Wharf Cartage Co. Ltd., were purchased by Great Western, London Midland and Scottish, London and North Eastern, and Southern railway companies - the Cartage Company continuing to operate its own business.
Under Transport Act 1947, Great Western, London Midland and Scottish, London and North Eastern, and Southern railway companies passed to British Transport Commission.
By certificate of Incorporation on change of name, 9 January 1968, name changed to Arc Transport Co.Ltd.
