The c1600 items in this series were received by BTHR from the Road Passenger Executive. It would appear that a collection dating from 1932 to c1948 was deposited here in September 1952, and that the remainder c1948 to 1972. possibly a reference collection, was deposited shortly before the Public Record Office took over custody of the archive.
The maps also give details of controlling interests, other undertakings, number of buses per company, and other information. For further explanation of the history and relationship of the various companies Bus Stop, edited by Gavin Booth, and published by Ian Allan, c1967, is recommended reading.
