In 1921 the Chief Clerk's Department was renamed the Chief Clerk's and General Department. After the Crown Agents for the Colonies became the Crown Agents for Oversea Governments and Administrations in 1954, the Chief Clerk was abolished and the General Department was established. In 1967 the General Department was split into an Establishment Department and a separate Office Services Department. In 1971 the functions of these departments were reunited in the Personnel and Organisation Department. By 1994 further organisational changes had created a Personnel and Office Services Department which reported directly to the Board of the Crown Agents through a Corporate Secretary.
