First Act passed 30th April 1792 (32 Geo III, cap.81) forming "Company of Proprietors of Wyrley and Essington Navigation". By act of 34 Geo III, cap.25, certain other persons mentioned therein were united and incorporated with and made part of the said Company.

Under "An Act for consolidating Wyrley and Essington Canal Navigation with Birmingham Canal Navigations" dated 14th April 1840, Wyrley and Essington Canal Navigation was incorporated with Birmingham Canal Navigations and shares of latter Company were issued in lieu of those of Wyrley and Essington Canal Navigation.
