Incorporated under Act dated 8th May 1793 as "Company of Proprietors of Ulverstone Canal Navigation" (33 Geo III, cap.105).
By Section 12 of Furness Railway Act 1862, Canal Company was to execute transfer and conveyance of undertaking to Furness Railway Company and Canal Company was to become vested in Furness Railway Company by virtue of such conveyance and this Act. By Section 16 of act, Canal Company was to be wound up and dissolved.
