By virtue of Swansea Harbour Act 1791, Swansea Harbour (Mumbles Lights) Act 1796, Swansea Harbour Amendment Act 1804, Swansea Harbour Act 1836, Swansea Harbour Acts Amendment Act 1844, and Swansea Harbour Act Amendment Act 1847, various powers were vested in Trustees of Swansea Harbour.
Under Swansea Harbour Act 3rd July 1854, "Swansea Harbour Trustees" incorporated body corporate with perpetual succession and common seal.
Docks of Swansea Dock Company were, by virtue of Swansea Harbour Act 10th August 1857, transferred to Swansea Harbour Trust. By section 72 of this Act, trustees were empowered to construct Swansea Harbour Railway, which was leased to Vale of Neath Railway Company (afterwards amalgamated with Great Western Railway as from 1st February 1865).
Swansea Harbour Trust was vested in Great Western Railway as from 1st July 1923 by virtue of Great Western Railway (Swansea Harbour Vesting) Act 18th July 1923.
