Incorporated by act of 1836 and again incorporated by Southampton Docks Act of 1871. Under Southampton Docks Act of 27th June 1892, company was ordered within six months after passing of act, and in any case not later than 1st January 1893, to sell undertaking to London & South Western Railway Company. Transfer took effect as from 1st November 1892. London & South Western Railway Company became part of Southern Railways Company as from 1st January 1923 under Railways (Southern Group) Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 22nd December 1922.
