Incorporated under act of 4th April 1794 as "Company of Proprietors of Rochdale Canal". Under Rochdale Canal Act 1899, name was changed to Rochdale Canal Company. This company continued as separate undertaking after passing of Transport Act 1947.

Minutes collection herein recorded is one of reports of meetings of certain lessees of canal with statements of accounts, detailed traffics and receipts.
