Crime: Offence against the Game Laws - being out on the estate of John White on 24 December 1828 with intent to kill game.
Initial sentence: Seven years' transportation.
Annotated: He will be detained onboard the hulks and not sent out of the country if he behaves well.
Petitioner(s): Betty Wrigley of Hyde, Cheshire, the convict's mother, with 27 others.
Grounds for clemency: Good character; his employer James Mills and his mother can vouch for his exemplary behaviour; no previous offence; got drunk on the night in question and was led astray by the others; his widowed mother deprived of her only means of support.
