Petitioner(s): The prisoner, of Stones End, Southwark [Surrey].
Grounds for clemency: Ignorant of laws about alcohol in prisons; was asked to bring some spirits into prison to celebrate a friend's release from debt; the turnkey saw him purchase the wine and arrested him on the street not in the prison which was illegal.
Other papers: Printed note to all Constables and officers of the peace for London, and the porter of the Bridewell Hospital, London, to keep Chapman and set him to hard labour.
