Description

Prisoner name: Joseph Wignal.

Court and date of trial: Old Bailey June Sessions 1821.

Crime: Stealing in a dwelling house.

Initial sentence: Seven years transportation.

Annotated: Considered by Lord Sidmouth 30 July 1821, nil.

Petitioner(s): Prisoner.

Grounds for clemency: He was in HM service but had to leave because of severe asthma; admits guilty of crime; wife had long and protracted illness; pension only small; former irreproachable character.
