First act obtained 29th January 1768 (8 Geo III, cap.37) forming "Company of Proprietors of Droitwich Canal Navigation".
Leased in 1874 to Sharpness New Docks and Gloucester and Birmingham Navigation for 999 years at annual rental which sufficed for payment of dividends.
On 25th September 1939, Sharpness Docks Perpetual Annuities of Sharpness New Docks and Gloucester and Birmingham Navigation Company were issued to shareholders in exchange for their holdings.
