Bute West Dock at Cardiff was authorised by Bute Docks Act 16th July 1830. Bute Docks Company was constituted under Bute Docks (Transfer) Act 25th June 1886. By same act, Section 23, Cardiff Docks and Railways connected therewith were transferred from Marquis of Bute and others to this company as from 31st December 1886. Under Cardiff Railway Act of 6th August 1897, name of Company was changed to Cardiff Railway Company. This company was amalgamated with Great Western Railway Company as from 1st January 1922 by Great Western (Western Group) Preliminary Amalgamation Scheme 25th March 1922.
