This company was "completely registered" as a limited liability company on 13th March 1856. It was wound up and dissolved by resolution of Extraordinary Meeting held on 27th May 1865.
Under powers of Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Steam Boat Act of 1864, steamers and other property of Anglo-French Steam Ship Co., were purchased by Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Company, and Board Minute 497 of 18th August 1865 records issue of Redeemable Preference Shares for that purpose, bearing interest from 1st January 1866.
Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Company changed its name to Great Central Railway from 1st August 1897 under act of 3rd June 1897. Great Central Railway Company was vested in London & North Eastern Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 by virtue of North Eastern, Eastern & Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
