RAIL 798
1926-1954
Mileage diagrams showing lines owned fully or jointly by the London and North Eastern Railway Company and, after nationalisation, showing those controlled by the Eastern Region of British Railways. Features include station platforms, signal boxes, bridges, level crossings and, in a few cases, signal posts.
The plans were kept in several large loose leaf binders but now each line has been placed in a folder and listed separately. The former reference shows the former volume number before the oblique and page numbers after.
Signalling plans and track diagrams are in AN 23

In the case of railways being jointly owned, the name of the appropriate committee is included in the description. These committees usually kept their pre-grouping names. Where the joint committee consisted only of companies that became constituents of the LNER, the committee is not mentioned as it would no longer be in existence after the Grouping.
After nationalisation, sections of railway transfered to the control of the Eastern Region have been added to these volumes and are included in this series. Conversely, diagrams of the lines transfered from Eastern Region to other regions were removed and given to the appropriate engineer.
