They are listed in the number order given to them by the MR. These documents were renumbered by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company (LMS) into the system used by the London and North Western Railway Company (LNWR) at its London Deed Room when the MR and the LNWR were grouped with other companies on 1 Jan 1923 to form the LMS. These numbers appear in brackets under the MR's numbers in the former reference column. The two numbering systems were in different orders.
The MR numbers were usually applied to the documents on sticky papers and consequently some numbers have fallen off. Where the MR reference cannot be ascertained, the document has been placed to coincide with the LNWR numbers.
