Authorised under Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway Order of 8th September 1899. Company was constructed and worked by Cambrian Railways Company under agreement dated 6th March 1900, by virtue of Section 55 of Order, and was absorbed into Great Western Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under Great Western Railway (Western Group) Preliminary Absorption Scheme (No. 3) 1922 dated 19th January 1923.
