Incorporated by act of 3rd July 1851. Company passed into Great Eastern Railway Company created under act of 7th August 1862, Reports and Accounts of 19th February 1863 reporting that, "it is anticipated that this line will be opened for traffic between Bungay and Beccles early next month when it will under Amalgamation Act form part of amalgamated system". Great Eastern Railway Company became part of London and North Eastern Railway Company from 1st January 1923 under North Eastern, Eastern and East Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
