Incorporated under act of 24th July 1851. By act of 12th July 1858, company was authorised to sell or lease line to Furness Railway Company. Undertaking was sold to Furness Railway Company under arrangements adopted on 21st January 1862. Furness Railway became one of constituent companies of London Midland and Scottish Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
