Incorporated by act of 18th July 1881 and amalgamated with Swindon, Marlborough and Avdover Railway Company under Swindon, Marlborough and Andover and Swindon and Cheltenham Extension railway companies' (Amalgamation) Act of 23rd June 1884, to form Midland and South Western Junction Railway Company. This latter Company was absorbed into Great Western Railway Company as from 1st July 1923 under Great Western Railway (Midland and South Western Junction Railway) Absorption Scheme dated 28th September 1923.
