Incorporated by act of 28th July 1884. Line was worked by Great Northern Railway Company under agreement of 9th August 1886, and by further Agreement, dated 28th February 1892, Great Northern Railway would purchase undertaking in terms of such Agreement. By virtue of Great Northern Railway Act dated 22nd July 1902, above Agreement was confirmed and made binding upon Sutton & Willoughby Railway Company which was amalgamated with Great Northern Railway Company thereunder. Great Northern Railway Company became part of London & North Eastern Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under North Eastern, Eastern, and East Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
